1. Data We Collect

When Using Local Features (No Sign-In Required):

• Pins and Photos: Stored locally on your device only
• Categories and Tags: Stored locally on your device only
• Location Data: Used only for map display and calculating distances (never uploaded without your consent)

When You Sign In (Optional):

• Email Address: From Sign in with Apple (for account creation)
• Display Name: From Sign in with Apple (optional)
• Username: Generated from your email or chosen by you
• Public Pins: Only pins you explicitly choose to share publicly
• Social Activity: Likes, comments, follows (if you use social features)

2. How We Use Your Data

• App Functionality: To display your pins on maps, organize by categories, and sync across your devices (if signed in)
• Social Features: To share pins with followers and discover places from others (if you choose to use these features)
• Account Management: To authenticate you via Sign in with Apple
• Analytics: Anonymous usage data to improve the app (no personally identifiable information)

3. Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google)

Used for authentication, cloud storage, and social features (only if you sign in). Firebase collects:

• Authentication tokens
• User profile data (username, email, display name)
• Pins you choose to share publicly

Used for secure authentication. Apple may provide us with a unique identifier, email (optional), and name (optional).

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data.

• Public Pins: Only pins you explicitly mark as "public" are visible to other users
• Private Pins: Stay on your device or in your private cloud storage (never shared)
• Social Features: Your username, display name, and public pins are visible to followers
• No Third-Party Marketing: We never share your data with advertisers or data brokers

5. Data Storage

• Local Storage: All data is stored on your device using Core Data (Apple's encrypted database)
• Cloud Storage: If you sign in, your public pins and profile are stored in Firebase (Google Cloud, US servers)
• Photos: Stored locally as compressed JPEG images. Public pin photos are uploaded to Firebase Storage (only if you share the pin)

6. Your Rights

• Access Your Data: Export all your pins to JSON anytime from Settings
• Delete Your Data: Delete individual pins or your entire account from Settings
• Control Sharing: Choose which pins are public vs private
• Sign Out Anytime: Signing out stops cloud sync but keeps local data intact
• Account Deletion: Permanently deletes all cloud data within 30 days (local data deleted immediately)

7. Children's Privacy

Pinbox is not intended for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Data Security

• All network connections use HTTPS encryption
• Firebase uses industry-standard security (encrypted at rest and in transit)
• Sign in with Apple provides enhanced security and privacy
• Local data is protected by iOS device encryption

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
